Day Party Overview

Roland`s war on day parties is a total failure, with 84 listed on Saturday alone. There are some new party nodes this year.Manor Rd has events at Clementine coffee,The Vortex Theater,Salvage Vanguard theater,Rancho Relaxo(house party)on Merrie Lynn,as well as Quack`s on E 38th.
The east side is hopping with events.the Typewriter Museum on E 6th(next to Rio Rita,in alley)has Gorch Foch and a cast of thousands on Thursday,Fuck X Fuck Y`all on Fri,and Fuck X Fuck You on Sat.Punk out on free beer into the nite. Also The Peacock,Scoot Inn,Ms Bea`s-on E 6th-,OK Mountain Gallery(E 1st& Navasota,in alley),the Compound(next to Scoot Inn) as well as numerous house parties and warehouses.
Ground Zero for me has always been S Congress, with free beer in the alley behind Yard Dog.Also music at Guero`s,Jo`s,Home Slice,Trophy`s(Whoopsy mag day party Thurs) and Mojo`s Mayhem starting at 10 AM Sat morning.Jovita`s has Twangfest. S Lamar and S 1st have some events.
Downtown is of course ground zero for all the tourists. You can`t swing a cat without hitting a showcase, with more being added daily in any remaining space.Waterloo Park has a big free show all day Saturday with lots of big name bands and comedians.
Auditorium Shores has a particularly lame line up this year, headlined by Spoon Thur,Bodeans Fri,Ice Cube Sat.Not worth fighting the crowds.
Also good line ups at Waterloo Records,Cheapo Discs, and a party Friday at the Counter Cafe parking lot next to Waterloo.
Campus area has MGMT at Urban Outfitters on Thurs, also day parties at Cream Vintage,Antone`s Record`s ,Sonny`s Vintage, and the old Plasma center next to Ruby`s BBQ(it`s organic!)on W 29th.
No word yet on Leann`s Big Barn Dance Sunday.
I just printed out the list of day parties. Its 24 pages.I`ll have a more detailed day by day breakdown soon,as well as tips for nite time shows for non wristband people.
